Second Annual Golf Tournament

FODSD held our 2nd Annual Scholarship Fundraising Golf Tournament on Friday, August 26th, 2022 at the Coronado Golf Club.  It was wonderful to see many familiar and new faces coming out to the course to raise funds for deserving San Diego City College (SDCC) Students.

We are thrilled to announce that we had 126 golfers and raised over $30,000! ALL funds raised go directly to recipients who are each awarded $1000. Scholarship applications are accepted starting in September, the selection process happens in October, and funds are awarded at The BIG Give in November.

Donations are still being accepted! Help us get to 35 scholarships this year!

Thank you to all of

our Sponsors !!

Tournament Highlights

The Foursomes were able to purchase Golf Tournament bundles (Mulligans, Putting Rope and a Pro Drive) at registration.  There were also complimentary range balls for warm-up.  A BBQ lunch was available before the 1:00 shot-gun tee time.

Each golfer received a SWAG-Bag containing giveaways from sponsors.  Lots of on-course activities and treats were available from sponsors at various holes during the round as well as a chance to learn about their organizations..

Special promotions gave golfers a chance to improve their scores while contributing to the Scholarship Fund:

  • Par 3 Hole-in-One Contest where players who scored an Ace would win a Ford Bronco donated by Antony Napoli Real Estate Group

  • Part 4 Secret Pro Drive where players who purchased Mulligan Packages could take their second shot from a super-long drive

  • Par 5 Ace where players could contribute $100 to the FODSD Scholarship to secure a 1 on hole 18

Post-Tournament Party

This year we were all treated to a taco dinner after finishing the round, and a chance to mingle and visit with other players and non-golfing friends.  A number of SDCC attendees, including City College President Dr Ricky Shabazz, VP of Student Administration Marciano Perez and Public Information Officer Cesar Gumpas.  The SDCC Foundation sponsored the taco bar, and Chairperson Gerald Ramsey and Dr John Parker were in attendance.

At the Closing Ceremony, Christine Baker FODSD President, Jessica Schatz FODSD Scholarship Chair and Aaron Rhine FODSD Golf Chair announced the winning foursome and addressed the crowd.  Over a dozen prizes were raffled off by Treasurer Erica Migliori, Aaron and Chris.
