Scholarship Program
Friends of Downtown has awarded over $900,000 in scholarships to San Diego City College (SDCC) since 2000, and is the largest contributor of single scholarships to City College.
We raised $34,000 in 2023 and are proud to have distributed $1000 checks to 34 students.
About our Recipients
Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement. Students may use the funds in any way that helps them achieve their academic goals. Many students use their scholarship dollars for books, technology, online access, transportation or transfer fees.
Fields of study for 2023 recipients were: Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA), Business, Nursing, Social Sciences, Real Estate, Arts & Design and Cosmetology.

About San Diego City College
Established in 1914, San Diego City College serves as the educational cornerstone of downtown San Diego. A 60-acre urban campus, City College serves more than 16,000 students, offering 200 degrees and majors, 500 certificates, and 1,800 day, evening, and weekend classes.
